We had the pleasure of speaking with Mervyn, who shared his journey and the inspiration behind his remarkable book, “Thoughts: The Creation of Life.”

Mervyn was diagnosed with schizophrenia, epilepsy, and bipolar, but through thought recognition and reducing stress and negative self-talk, he has been able to stabilize his condition. Thanks to his regiment of positive affirmation, he hasn’t had a seizure in four years. By focusing on his five senses and distinguishing between reality and imagination, he managed to maintain his mental health. While still taking his subscribed medication, he has been able to experience complete serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins, feeling gladness, excitement, and motivation every day.

The book, ‘Thoughts: The Creation of Life,’ explores the power of the subconscious and the importance of thinking about achievement instead of avoidance. It’s a collection of five books in one. The second book, ‘Instantly Working Divine Power,’ discusses how dominant thoughts manifest and how love can dispel darkness and bitterness.

The other books in the collection are the third book, ‘Meds to Fall in Love Again,’ which explains how brain chemistry changes with thought and the role of medications in producing happy hormones. The fourth book, ‘Science Behind Religion,’ presents 35 examples from the Bible that show how changing your mind for glory can promote love and happiness. The final book, ‘Mind Behind the Truth,’ provides 46 examples of replacing destructive thoughts with thoughts of love to heal a chemical imbalance.

Mervyn was inspired to write this book because he wanted to share how changing his thoughts helped him avoid stress-induced seizures. He could dilute the seizure chemicals and stay grounded by focusing on the present moment and using his five senses. This method helped him and could benefit others facing similar challenges.

The act of writing the book has, in his own words, “changed my life” It helped him overcome a chemical imbalance that led to intense stress seizures. He has improved his mental health and overall well-being by changing his negative self-talk and focusing on positive thoughts.

“When I read about it again, I don’t get immobilized with the negative subconscious submittal anymore. When my subconscious is always thinking of achievement instead of avoidance.”

Mervyn believes stress is a reaction to historical events, and we can change our responses by focusing on positive outcomes.

“If it wasn’t for NDIS helping me out for the last five years, I wouldn’t have had the headspace”

Thanks to the NDIS, he has had the support to work through his thoughts and develop strategies to deal with stress without relying on less productive and damaging means. One of the goals Mervyn hopes the book can achieve is that these techniques can help others. Including HSC students, to help them stay present and focused on achieving their best.

“I’d like to give it out for HSC students so they can learn to focus in the now and not worry about tomorrow or yesterday…”

Merryn’s story and insights offer a powerful perspective on managing mental health through thought recognition and positive thinking. We’re excited to see the impact his book will have on readers.
