Earlier this month, South-east Queensland and North-east New South Wales experienced a category 2 cyclone, the first to make landfall since 1974. Most might not know this, but a large amount of Inclusion Tree’s participants and staff live in this area, so this event deeply impacted us.

An Introduction To Epilepsy

A gradient background transitions from purple to pink. At the top, bold text reads 'An introduction to epilepsy.' Below the text, a stylised illustration of a brain is depicted, connected to various icons like a bar graph, pie chart, and document, symbolising data and statistics. At the bottom right, there is a figure seated at a desk working on a computer, emphasising the role of research and understanding in exploring epilepsy."

This Wednesday is Purple Day, a grassroots effort to increase worldwide awareness of epilepsy. We wanted to do our part to spread awareness about the disorder by writing a bit about the ailment, what it is, how common it is, some myths and facts about it, and how you can learn more about it.

While February is the shortest month of the year, that doesn’t mean less happens. This month, we have a story about our coolest participant and an introduction to our Behaviour Support Practitioners.

January 2025 Newsletter Archive

The image shows a circular graphic with a white background and a blue border. Inside the circle, the text "January 2025 Newsletter Archive" is displayed. The word "January 2025" is in blue, "Newsletter" is in a black cursive font, and "Archive" is in black. The background outside the circle features a bright, sunny sky with scattered clouds and green tree branches with leaves, suggesting a pleasant outdoor scene.

Hello and welcome to Inclusion Tree’s first newsletter. We have some great stories about what our participants have been up to, what our employees have been cooking up, and updates on what’s new with the NDIS.

Why we should have more hobbies

A person with braided hair is painting on a canvas placed on an easel. The person is wearing a light-colored sweater and ripped jeans, and is holding a paintbrush in one hand and a palette in the other. The background features large windows, and the image is framed with a circular border on a colorful background with green and yellow circles.

In today’s complex world where social expectations to perform, combined with financial pressure, can lead us down the path of deteriorating mental health.

Meet Cool Marie our oh so cool Participant.

A group of six people is standing in front of a green building, holding a large ceremonial cheque. The cheque is made out to the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation for the amount of $6,800. The date on the cheque is 27/11/2024, and it is from 'COOL MARIE.' The cheque and the people are framed within a circular border with butterfly and leaf graphics. There is also a basket with various items placed on the ground in front of the group.

Marie is one of our fantastic participants who has an exceptional talent for making all things craft. From handmade bags to plush lions, she even has hand-painted artwork.
